This Is The Place

I remember the first time I heard this song, I was like holy crap, Peppers never dissappoint! I sure love these guys, definately one of my favorite pop/punk/rock whatever the hell they are, plus no one can bang ont he bass like Flea!

Anywho, to me this song represents the struggles of addiction through genetics, generations, within relationships of all sorts and ultimately, the internal one alot of us face at one time or another. It's also one of my favorites to go off to in the car:) Enjoy...

This Is The Place
This is the place where all
The junkies go
Where time gets fast
But everything gets slow

Can I get some vaseline
Step into a modern scene
Take a chance of that
Which seems to be
The making of a dream

I don't want to do it
Like my daddy did
I don't want to give it
To my baby's kid

This is my calling...

This is the place where all
The devils plead
Their case to take from you
What they need
Can I isolate your gene
Can I kiss your dopamine
In a way I wonder
If she's living in a magazine

I don't want to say it
If it isn't so
I don't want to weigh it
But i've got to know

This is my calling...

I saw you out there yesterday
What did you want to say
A perfect piece of DNA
Caught in a flashing ray
I caught you out there in the fray
What did you want to say
A master piece of DNA
Caught in a flashing ray

Can I smell your gasoline
Can I pet your wolverine
On the day my best friend died
I could not get my copper clean

I don't want to take it up
With little Joe
I don't want to fake it
But i've gotta know

This is my calling...

I am a misfit
I'm born with all of it
The fucking ultimate
Of love inside the atom split

I'm in a flash ray
A mash of DNA
Another poppin' Jay
Who thinks he's got
Something to say

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy - Sarah McLachlan (Mirror Ball)

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy - Sarah McLachlan (Mirror Ball)

All the fear has left me now
I'm not frightened anymore.
It's my heart that pounds beneath my flesh.
it's my mouth that pushes out this breath

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it.
I won't fear love.

Companion to our demons
they will dance and we will play.
With chairs candles and clothes
making darkness in the day.
It will be easy to look in or out
upstream or down
without a thought

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it.
I won't fear love.

Peace in the struggle to find peace.
Comfort on the way to comfort

and if I shed a tear I won't cage it.
I won't fear love
and if I feel a rage I won't deny it
I won't fear love.
I won't fear love.
I won't fear love...

The Ocean Breathes Salty - Modest Mouse

Your body may be gone, I'm gonna carry you in.
In my head, in my heart, in my soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Don't think so.

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.
Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a spell.
I had to think awhile. I had to think awhile.

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both grow old.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I hope so.

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.
Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a spell.
I had to think awhile. I had to think awhile.

Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you missed,

when the ocean met the sky.
You missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye.
When the earth folded on itself.
And said "Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell
are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath."
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death?
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death?

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
The more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind.
Well I don't mind. I don't mind. How the hell could I mind?

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. You get away from me.

Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you missed,

when the ocean met the sky.
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste the afterlife?

By Your Side - Sade

For the Little Man...and the The Big One too:)
****************************************************
By Your Side - Sade (Lover's Rock)

you think i'd leave your side baby
you know me better than that
you think i'd leave you down when you're down on your knees
i wouldn't do that
i'll tell you you're right when you want
and if only you could see into me
ha ah ah ah ah ah

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me

when you're on the outside baby and you can`t get in
i will show you you're so much better than you know
when you're lost and you're alone and you cant get back again
i will find you darling and i will bring you home

and if you want to cry
i am here to dry your eyes
and in no time
you'll be fine

you think i'd leave your side baby
you know me better than that
you think id leave you down when you're down on your knees
i wouldn't do that
i'll tell you you're right when you want
and if only you could see into me
ha ah ah ah ah ah

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me
when you're low
i'll be there
by your side baby

oh when you're cold
i'll be there
hold you tight to me
oh when you're low
i'll be there
by your side baby

Immaculate - Francis Dunnery

Like much of my newly found favorite music, I was turned on to Mr. Dunery by non-other than CMan. I have the most brilliant colored memories of snuggling CMan on the couch in his house in Da' Ghetto Gangsta Hood, deeply engaged in all sorts of hypothetical and theological discussions and knowing this man would change my life forever. This particular CD was one we spent a lot of time on, in part because I think Francis Dunnery seems like such a wise man, even if he is just a kid. An old soul I suppose. Otherwise, you just can't help but enjoy the energy and warmth, especially when wrapped up in a blanket on a chilly morning with your favorite warm-one:)

In addition to the obvious sentimental value of Francis Dunnery's "Tall Blonde Helicopter" for me, he is very high on my list of song writers with whom I feel a spiritual connection and understanding with. His methods simple, his message positive, his mind clearly sharp and interesting. I guess him to be quite fascinating and probably a little eccentric, but no matter what his personality traits may be I am quite certain he is a kind and thoughtful man, breathing in his moments.

Enjoy!

Immaculate - Francis Dunnery

Moved outside of the circle,
And my mind is tired and my neck’s half worn
Someone told me I’m different
As I hold on tight to the things I own
Look what’s sewn in my lining
As I let go all of the things I own

Where no flowers die
Where no walls are needed
Where no hurt can grab ya

Immaculate
Grown inside our mind
Affirmations on where we’re going
don’t take no notice of what the man said
Cos immaculate id sitting in your head

Moved outside of the circle
And my mind is tired and my heart is worn
Someone says that I’m different
As I hold on tight to the things I own

Where the angels fly
Where no homes get broken
And we’re all together

Immaculate
Grown inside our mind
Affirmations on where we’re going
don’t take no notice of what the man said
Cos immaculate is sitting in your head

If only I could tell you that you are what you believe
The hurting would be over and we would both be free
If only you’d believe me when I said you’re beautiful
The images would manifest and beautiful you’d be
If only I could show you what Immaculate could be
The negative would perish and the positive would be
If only you’d allow yourself to hear what I’ve just said
Then pretty soon you’d realise that immaculate is sitting in your head

Silent Lucidity - Queensryche

This song came to me in my initial early years of rebellion, I'd say 13 or 14 or so? I was so lost and sad and full of anguish and angst. I was angry at everyone and knew that my heart ached wildly, but I didn't really know why.

I spent many long hours in solitude, tears streaming down my face, trying to understand my rage and agony and often delving into deep depressions and scary places. I'm glad I made it out ok.

This song reached me so deeply that I remember recording it from the radio because I didn't have the money to buy it on tape, it was an awful recording, but it was mine to listen to over and over again. I then began babysitting and had my own funds to spend as I pleased. I listened to this song over and over, never really questioning why it brought out such emotion in me, but knowing that it did and that emotion was a release.

This morning on the way to work, I heard it on the radio. I hardly ever listen to the radio any more, but sometimes and it caught me off guard to hear my old favorite. I know now that these words and the composition of this song over all is moving for me personally because it to me it describes death and loss and being in a dream state, as well as the rebirth and renewal that is associated with those aspects of my personal pain. The balance, knowing it and acceptance and allowing myself the freedom to fly with the knowledge of this pain.

I still find the song quite beautiful and loved hearing it this morning. Always did enjoy QR, still do. Even if it does date me tremendously!*********************************************************************************
Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
Hush now don’t cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You’re lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over...or has it just begun?

There’s a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run to in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn’t realize it and you were scared
It’s a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the tears
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly, you hear and see
This magic new dimension

Chorus
I-will be watching over you
I-am gonna help you see it through
I-will protect you in the night
I-am smiling next to you...in silent lucidity

If you open your mind for me
You won’t rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumblng down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
Youre safe froom pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream’s alive, you can be the guide but...

Chorus

Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art.
